Sara Tiffany works for the Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF) which is a 40 year+ non-profit based in Davis, CA that works to build sustainable food and farming systems that result in healthier farms, ecosystems and communities. At CAFF, Sara directs the Climate Smart Farming program, working with farmers, researchers and extension professionals to investigate and promote the adoption of Climate Smart/Regenerative Ag/Carbon Farm practices and systems through policy advocacy, on-farm research/ demonstration projects and farmer-to-farmer extension networks. Central to the Climate Smart Farming program is on-farm research/ demonstration projects that aim to build regional understanding of climate smart farming practices through extensive soil data collection and documentation of the farmer’s experience around the benefits and tradeoffs of targeted practices. Before Joining CAFF, Sara worked for the UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program as an Environmental Analyst. Sara received MSc. Degrees from UC Davis in Soils and Biogeochemistry and International Agriculture Development. Prior to graduate school, Sara worked with communities of small-scale farmers in India, Ecuador and Costa Rica on projects around the adoption of sustainable agriculture, clean drinking water practices and smokeless cookstoves. Sara grew up on a small-scale organic blueberry and walnut ranch in San Benito county.
